Should I Choose a Stubby or a Sub-Compact 3/8 Impact Wrench?

I'm currently using a Dewalt dcf891 impact wrench (1/2 anvil, 800 ft-lbs breakaway, 600 ft-lbs fastening) and I'm looking to add a smaller 3/8 impact wrench for lighter jobs. I'm trying to decide between a stubby and a sub-compact model. They seem so close in size that I'm leaning towards the stubby, as it might handle a wider range of tasks. But since the stubby is somewhat similar to my existing Dewalt, I wonder if opting for the smaller sub-compact would be better for my needs. If you were in my shoes, which one would you pick? Also, just to note, I'm mainly into DIY car work.

I'd definitely go with the 3/8 stubby. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago through a deal at Home Depot for about $128. It's perfect for DIY car work, and I recommend using it with a 5.0 battery for the best performance. There's a hack deal at HD right now for two 5.0 batteries and a charger which you might want to consider too!

I recently spotted a good deal on a stubby for around $239 at Home Depot. I think it's a solid choice if you're looking for something reliable but lightweight. It’s a win-win for DIY projects!

You might want to stick with Dewalt and check out the dcf923. It’s slightly bigger than the stubby and while it has a bit less power, you already have the dcf891 for the heavy lifting. Plus, switching brands can be a hassle with batteries and chargers!
