Should I Choose an Electric or Gas Mower for My Yard?

I'm thinking about buying a new mower since my old push mower has seen better days after 24 years. I'm leaning towards getting a DeWalt mower since I already have one of their electric trimmers. However, I'm torn between gas and electric options. The gas mower is about $130 cheaper, and given how much my old mower used to drink gas, it would take only 2-3 summers to match that savings on fuel. Do you think the electric mower is worth the extra cost?

I had a DeWalt electric mower, but it struggled with my 1/4 acre yard. I had to swap out three sets of batteries just to finish mowing, which was quite a hassle. Plus, it didn’t cut evenly if the grass was long or wet. I switched back to gas and couldn't be happier. It handles everything without a second thought.

I'd definitely go for electric! I snagged an electric mower (not DeWalt) over ten years ago, and it's still going strong. No maintenance hassles and I just changed the battery once. It's been a reliable choice for me, so I highly recommend going the electric route.

It really depends on your yard size and how much grass there is to mow. I have a small yard and my 20V self-propelled mower works well for the most part, especially with two 10Ah batteries. I do have to cut more frequently during summer, or sometimes take it slow. I like that I don’t have to deal with gas. I think the latest DeWalt models have improved, so it might be worth checking them out!
