I'm looking to upgrade from my cheap sheet sander to something more effective for my woodworking projects. I live in a flat and usually work in small spaces like my garden or kitchen, and I've completed a bed and a desk so far with more projects in the pipeline. I've found a Bosch Pex220a orbital sander for £40, which seems like a great deal, but I've also seen the Dewalt DWE6423-GB online for around £95, which includes variable speed options. Is the Dewalt worth the extra money, or is there a better alternative? Also, if anyone knows of any workshops in West Yorkshire where you can rent space to work on projects, I'd love to hear about that too!

Honestly, I've never really found the need to adjust the speed on my orbital sander. I keep it at maximum because that's usually more efficient unless you're working with very delicate materials like thin veneer. So unless you're doing detailed work, you might be fine with the Bosch!
I've been pretty satisfied with my Dewalt. Just keep in mind that it might need a special adapter for dust collection if you plan on using it with a shop vac, but those are easy to find online.
Have you checked if the stores near you have demo models? Ergonomics can really make a difference, especially if you'll be sanding for long periods. Comfort should be a priority!
