I'm planning to tile around my shower tub area and possibly throughout the entire bathroom. My contractor suggested using Go Board, but I'm curious about what everyone thinks. I've noticed that Go Board comes with a 10-year warranty, while Cement Board offers a lifetime warranty. Although we probably won't need to rely on the warranty, it does make me question the durability. Should I stick with Go Board, go for Cement Board, or even consider a fiber cement board like Hardie Backer?

Go Board is a great option since it's waterproof, lighter, and made of foam, making it easier to work with. However, if you're looking for strong structural support, I recommend going with Cement Board and adding a waterproofing layer like RedGard. Remember, regular cement board isn't waterproof on its own, so you'll have to seal seams and screw holes to prevent moisture damage. If you're tiling the whole bathroom, I’d advise against both unless you really need that wet room functionality.

I'm leaning toward tiling just around the shower and tub area since the bathroom previously had tile halfway up the walls. Would you still recommend Cement Board for that setup, or should I consider Hardie Backer instead?
