Should I Choose Plywood or MDF for Laundry Room Shelves?

I'm in the process of building some shelves for my laundry room to hold laundry baskets. I opted for paint instead of stain, so I'm wondering if 3/4' MDF would be a good option. There won't be any water issues in the room, and I plan to use semi-gloss paint. What do you think?

Honestly, I’d recommend going for plywood. It’s less likely to sag compared to MDF, especially with the kind of load you’ll be putting on it. Check out the sagulator tool to see how your choice of material holds up for your shelf dimensions!
