I'm in the market for a new hand plane, but high-end options like Veritas or Lie Nielsen are way out of my budget. I'm considering the Woodriver No 4 and the Taytools Premium Bedrock Style No 4. I saw a video comparing the Taytools to Lie Nielsen, which seemed promising, but I'm cautious since it was a sponsored video. Has anyone actually used the Taytools Premium smoother or any other models? I'm keen on saving some money with the Taytools if it's a quality option, especially since Woodriver is on sale right now. How do these compare to a tuned-up Stanley? I want to ensure I'm investing in a significant upgrade for performance.

I picked up a Taytools spokeshave, and honestly, it was a disaster—couldn't even give it away! Because of that, I'm a bit skeptical about their hand planes. On the flip side, I've got a Woodriver No 4, a No 6, and a few others, and they're fantastic. The No 6 is my go-to for almost everything!
I've got a Woodriver too, and it's such a pleasure to use! No experience with Taytools planes myself, though.
