I'm planning to install gas logs in my fireplace and I'm trying to decide between vented and ventless options. What factors should I consider when making this choice?

If you have the option to vent, I highly recommend going with vented logs. They are generally safer and you won’t have to worry about any harmful fumes lingering in your home.

Make sure you know whether your fireplace is vented or not. If it is vented, you can actually go either way. Just a heads up; I'm sure you'll love using logs that fit your fireplace best!

I'm not a fan of ventless logs because I don't trust their safety. Even though natural gas is primarily methane, there are other hydrocarbons that can produce dangerous byproducts. Plus, you may end up with carbon monoxide from incomplete combustion.

That's a great point! I had a ventless fireplace before, and I could never use it without getting headaches.
