Should I Clean or Replace the Flooring in My Baby’s Nursery?

We're turning a room in our house into a nursery for our baby, but that room used to have our cats' litter boxes in it. Even though we clean regularly, there have been some messy accidents. The floor is made of laminate planks that can't be soaked with water, as they might get damage. I'm concerned about any bacteria lingering from the cats and whether it's safe for my baby. Should I just do a deep clean and sanitize the floor, or is it better to replace the flooring entirely? What do you think I should do?

Just clean it well! Believe me, your little one will encounter worse things than the floor. Give it a good scrub and you should be good to go.

If you're really concerned about bacteria, it might be wise to replace the flooring so you don't have to worry about it later. But if you're okay with just cleaning, do that instead. You might be overthinking it! Personally, I’d stick to your original plan of cleaning it up well and not dwell on it.

I'd recommend giving it a thorough cleaning first. You can use a good sanitizer on the floor. If you notice any lingering smells from the litter boxes, then consider replacing it. Trust me, you'll have enough expenses with diapers, so it’s worth trying to save the existing floor if possible.

I’d say just clean it thoroughly. Also, replacing it could release more harmful chemicals than you'd encounter if you just clean it. And by the way, congratulations on the baby!
