Should I dig up bluebells or let them be?

Hi everyone! I recently discovered some bluebells popping up among my daffodils, and after getting them identified, it seems they are considered a pest in many areas. My wife absolutely loves bluebells, though! I'm curious if there are any reasons to avoid letting them flower. Do they pose a threat to native plants or anything like that? Thanks for your insights!

First off, do you know whether they’re English or Spanish bluebells? English bluebells are actually protected by law, so you can’t disturb them. On the other hand, Spanish bluebells are notorious for being invasive. If that's the case, you can definitely pull them out since they can easily take over your garden!

If you suspect they’re Spanish bluebells, just a heads up. They can hybridize with native bluebells, which raised concerns about them potentially wiping out the natives. However, recent studies suggest they don’t pose as much of a threat as once thought. They do have pretty large flowers and can become quite straggly, so if you prefer native ones, it might be worth replacing them! I’m doing the same in my garden.

Yeah, I've heard they’re not great for pollinators either. I usually remove them because in the past they've completely taken over my gardens!
