Should I DIY My Shed and Concrete Foundation?

I'm wrestling with whether to take on the challenge of building my own shed and pouring a concrete foundation. I have some experience with hands-on projects like renovating my basement, but I've never tackled concrete before and I'm a bit intimidated. I'm considering pouring a 12x8 concrete pad for my shed. However, given my full-time job and four kids, I'm wondering if I might be biting off more than I can chew. Should I hire a professional to pour the slab and then build the shed myself, or should I do it all myself? I'm particularly worried about getting the slab perfectly level — any advice?

Honestly, I'd recommend hiring someone to pour the slab for you. It's a big job, and having pros do it means you won't be stressing about the results. Once the slab is done, building the shed should be a breeze. Just focus on that part and leave the concrete to the experts.

If you're up for a challenge, you could go the DIY route after doing some research. Lots of YouTube videos can guide you through the process of leveling the ground and pouring the concrete, but keep in mind it's quite the time-sensitive job once the truck arrives. If you don't feel confident, hiring someone is totally the way to go to avoid headaches later.

I say build the shed yourself but leave the concrete to the pros. The concrete pour can be tricky, especially with timing, and you want it to be right so your shed doesn't end up lopsided. Plus, it’s less stressful to manage a simpler project like the shed while letting someone else handle the heavy lifting.
