Should I DIY or Hire an Electrician for Under Cabinet Lighting Replacement?

I'm looking to replace my under cabinet lights since one of the bulbs went out and I really dislike fluorescent lighting. One of the diffusers also broke, and it's not replaceable since the company is out of stock. I'm considering switching to modern LED lights that offer color temperature selection and dimming features. The existing lights are hardwired, so is this something I can handle myself? I'm not an electrician, but I know how to turn off the power and can follow instructions. Is it worth a shot, or should I hire a pro?

I went the easy route and bought some $20 LED strips from Amazon for my under cabinets. They look awesome, come with a remote for dimming and color options, and if I need to swap them out, they're super affordable. They've held up well for two years now!

DIY is an option, but honestly, I've found it pretty annoying. If you can solder, I recommend buying a 24V transformer along with your own LED strips for more customization. Otherwise, look for a kit!

It's possible to DIY, but it can get tricky if you're switching from hardwired to 12-volt LEDs with transformers. Just double-check the specs on what you buy to ensure compatibility!

Good point! The models I'm eyeing are listed at 120V, so I think I should be fine.
