I've got an outdoor water softener system, and unfortunately, the bladder on my pressure tank is damaged. I recently swapped out the pressure switch since it was fading and had weak connections, which fixed part of the issue, but I'm still having problems with water pressure in my home. It's pretty clear the pressure tank is the issue. My question is: is replacing the water pressure tank something I can handle myself? I've watched some videos that make it look easy, and I've successfully replaced toilets and fixtures before. Should I just give it a shot, or is it better to hire a professional to do it?

Replacing the plumbing parts is pretty simple as long as you're comfortable dealing with the electrical side too. Your pump is usually controlled through the pressure tank, so just keep that in mind!
Before diving in, make sure to check a few things first. Shut off the pump and drain the tank. Pressurize the bladder with air to 2 psi below the cut-in pressure on the pressure switch. After that, turn the water back on and see if everything works. If you hear bubbling while adding air, that’s a sign there's a hole in the bladder, and you’ll definitely need to replace the tank.
Based on what you’ve shared, it sounds like you should be able to handle it! Just remember to turn off the breaker before you start, and be prepared for any spills. Planning ahead is key.
