I'm working on repainting and repairing my deck, and the floorboards are in decent condition but definitely need power-washing and some sanding. I've come across mixed advice about whether flipping the deck boards is a good idea. Will flipping them actually extend the life of the deck? What's the right way to do it? Do I need to tape the joists while I'm at it? I'd love any tips you all might have!

It really depends on the condition of your boards. If they’re just a bit weathered, flipping them could be fine. Just keep an eye out, as sometimes there can be rot starting where they sit on the joists. If you find any rot, you'll need to take care of that before flipping.

Thanks! I’ll definitely check for rot. If I find any, is there anything I can do besides just replacing everything?
