Should I Get a Battery or Corded Circular Saw for Hardwood Work?

I'm in the market for a new circular saw since I often work with hardwood. I'm trying to decide whether to go with a cordless model or stick with a corded one to ensure I have enough power. What would be a good choice for me?

I'd also ask what specific cuts you'll be doing. Do you have other cordless tools? If you're cutting things like a white oak tabletop, Corded will give you a bit more power. Having some cordless Ryobi tools is great, and you could consider a circular saw with track capabilities if you want precision, but it's not a must-have.

Thanks for the input! I'm mostly focusing on that oak cross cut for my tabletop, so it sounds like I should lean towards corded for that job.

If you’re mainly working in a shop, I'd recommend going with a corded saw. It’s typically more cost-effective and can handle most hardwood cuts without running out of battery. But if you plan to use it on job sites or move around a lot, a cordless model might be the better choice for convenience.

Totally agree! Corded saws save you money in the long run and just keep going without the worry of battery life.
