I'm tackling my first drywall installation and I've got a ruler (80 cm) with a bubble level. I've seen a lot of tutorials showcasing laser levels and I'm considering picking up a budget-friendly one for around 15 EUR. However, I'm not sure if it's worth it since I might not have many more projects in the future. I'm creating a fake column around a vertical pipe that measures 25 cm x 25 cm x 250 cm. Do you think my ruler will do the job, or should I invest in the laser level?

When it comes to drywall, you really don’t use a level until you're installing the framing; the drywall just gets screwed into that framing. I've got both and honestly, I prefer using my level since it speeds things up a bit. For your project, a standard ruler should work fine, especially over short distances.
Just a heads up, a bubble level can be tricky over longer distances as tiny errors can add up quickly. If you're working on longer spans, it might be worth considering investing in something more precise. But for a simple column, a stick level will likely do the trick!
Thanks for the tip! But if I use a profile and I'm nailing it to the wall, how do I keep it from moving while I fix it?
Got it! So, I need to focus on the framing first, right?
