Should I Get a Woodworking Tool Combo Kit or Buy Tools Separately?

I'm trying to decide if it's better to purchase a 3-tool woodworking combo kit or to buy each tool individually. I definitely need all three tools, but I don't need the charger or bag that come with the combo. I'm also thinking about getting the individual tools because Lowe's offers better batteries, plus I'd end up with three batteries instead of just two from the kit. Any advice?

Could you share which tools you're looking at? It's easier to give advice when we know what you're considering!

Sure! The tools I'm looking at are a jigsaw, compact router, and orbital sander.

Consider if the tools in the kit are all brushless or if any are brushed. Brushless is usually better, and the discount for the kit should be weighed against the potential performance drop with brushed tools. You can usually identify brushless by looking for a yellow section on the handle and "brushless" written on it.

Good point! The tools in the kit—jigsaw, orbital sander, and compact router—are brushless.
