Should I Get an Impact Driver If I Already Own a Hammer Drill?

Hey everyone! I recently scored a Milwaukee M12 Fuel Hammer Drill 3404-20 for just $145, which is an awesome deal here in Europe. Now I've come across the M12 Fuel 1/4" Cordless Hex Impact Driver (bare tool) for around $95, and I'm debating whether it's worth adding to my toolkit. I'm a total newbie when it comes to tools; I mainly got the hammer drill for assembling things now and then. Would an impact driver really be that beneficial for general household tasks, or should I just stick to my hammer drill? Also, what other M12 tools would you recommend for home use? Thanks!

I’d definitely say go for the impact driver! Your hammer drill is great for drilling, especially into tough materials like brick and concrete, but the impact driver absolutely crushes it when it comes to driving screws, screws, nuts, and bolts. You’ll find it super handy for things like putting up shelves or assembling furniture. If you’re just worried about handling it, just take it easy at first; you’ll get the hang of it.

Totally agree! When I first got mine, I was overwhelmed by how much power it had, but once you figure it out, it's a game changer.

Honestly, the M12 impact driver is one of my go-to tools. It pairs perfectly with a hammer drill; having both makes your life a lot easier because you won’t have to constantly change bits for different tasks. The impact driver excels at driving screws quickly without the hassle.

For around-the-house projects, I think a drill is usually enough unless you’re doing lots of heavy-duty stuff. If you're really itching for another tool, I’d suggest the M12 FUEL Hackzall. It’s perfect for light cutting tasks and super handy to have!

Great point! I also love having a compact saw for odd jobs. The convenience of having a power saw can’t be underestimated!
