I live in Boston and have a detached garage where I store cars, landscaping tools, and bikes, but no expensive equipment since it gets water during rain. The garage is east-facing and gets good sun in the morning. Given this, is it worth spending money on insulated garage doors, or can I skip that expense since I'm on a tight budget?

If you’re not planning to heat or cool your garage, then insulated doors likely won’t be of much use. Insulation alone doesn’t prevent water issues, and if your garage is in decent shape temperature-wise, you probably don’t need to invest in new doors right now.
Consider installing some weatherstripping on the floor to help with the water issue. It's like a rubber t-shaped barrier that can keep the water out. Also, check your gutters – if they’re not directing water properly, that might be causing problems too! Insulating the door isn’t going to help much if the garage is detached and you’re not looking to climate control it.
Exactly! Just figuring out where the water is coming from and stopping it can save you a lot. Insulation might not give you the benefits you’re hoping for.
If you're not spending a lot of time in your garage, insulated doors might not be necessary. Insulation is mostly helpful if you plan to use it as a workspace like a gym or workshop. Otherwise, you might not get much value from it!

Definitely! My garage stays pretty decent even in colder weather without insulation, so you might be fine as is.
