I'm planning to install a door for my furnace/storage room next month, but I've realized that a traditional door that swings to the right will get in the way of accessing the storage area. I'm considering switching to a pocket door, but I understand I'll need to trim the door down to size and make sure to install a vent for airflow, as advised by my city inspector. Is a pocket door a better solution for this situation? Thanks in advance!

I've been looking into pocket doors too! Just a heads up, installing one can involve quite a bit of demolition, including replacing studs and drywall. So, if you're not ready for that, you might want to consider other options like a folding door.
Honestly, a folding door might be your easiest bet. I just wrapped up a project with bi-fold doors, and let me tell you, it was quite the hassle! But at least they don't take up extra space like pocket doors do. Just something to think about!
Thanks for sharing your experience! Sounds like I might want to avoid extra hassle.
