Hey everyone! I planted some potatoes back in May and this is my first time growing them. I'm located in the southeast of England, and I'm seeing that my plants are still quite green and leafy. However, I'm about to leave for a 10-day trip, and I'm worried that they'll go bad if I leave them in the ground, especially since the weather has turned wet. So, I'm stuck—should I go ahead and pull them up early, or do you think they'll be okay for the two weeks I'm gone? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You generally want to lift maincrop potatoes at least 110 days after planting, which can be around when they finish flowering and start to yellow. If yours have just begun to yellow but are still mostly green, they can likely wait out your trip. Just be cautious because of the weather!
This time of year, there's a risk of blight, so it might be safer to go ahead and lift them now. Storing them will keep them safe from potential issues while you're away.
Your potatoes should be fine left in the ground for a bit longer. Just harvest them when you get back! They'll hold up well for ten days if the weather isn't too extreme. Enjoy your trip!
