I recently removed the door that separated my shower/toilet area from the washroom to open up space, and I'm really liking the change. Now, I'm wondering if I should hire a professional to redo the door frame to make it look like a proper entryway or if I can just fill in the holes and paint it myself. What do you think?

It really depends on your budget! If you're looking to save some cash, you can definitely DIY. Just patch the holes and paint, but keep in mind that having a pro might give you a nicer finish if you're planning on it being a more permanent change. That's up to you!
I faced a similar situation during my remodel. I took out the door frame, filled the space with drywall, applied mud and tape, and then textured and painted. Once it’s all done, you won't even know a door was ever there!
That looks amazing! Huge improvement; thanks for sharing your process!

Aesthetically, might be better to have it done right by a pro. What’s involved in that? Just taking off some of the frame or all of it?
