I'm trying to improve the comfort of a specific bedroom in my house without shelling out for whole-house insulation right now. The attic currently has about 7 inches of cellulose insulation, which I believe gives it an R-value in the low 20s. My home was built in 2006, and I've noticed that this particular bedroom gets way colder in the winter and overly hot in the summer. Is there any advantage to boosting the R-value just in this one bedroom while leaving the rest of the attic as is? I've already done some air sealing in that area. If I can make this room more comfortable for my son before the colder months arrive, that would be great. I'd like to see if I can make a noticeable difference with just this small section before I tackle the rest of the house later on.

It definitely will help! Are you planning to do the work yourself or hire someone?

I'm tackling it myself! I'm thinking of picking up some R30 rolls to lay on top of the blown insulation just above his room. Renting a machine for blowing in might be a hassle, plus I'd need to grab a truck for transport and deal with the heat in the attic. For now, I think I'll just go with the R30 rolls and check how that changes things. I appreciate the input!
