Should I Install Carpet Before or After the Baseboard?

I have a bit of a situation here—my carpet is getting installed before I can put in the baseboard because of a shipping delay. I'm looking for advice on how to communicate with the carpet installers or any tips on giving them the right info about the baseboard. I've got a baseboard sample on hand. Thanks for your thoughts!

Honestly, the carpet installers don’t really need the size of your baseboard. The order of installation usually goes carpet last to prevent damage. Just tell them you’ll be putting baseboards in later; it doesn’t hurt to keep them in the loop!

Actually, it's often better to have the carpet installed before the baseboard. This way, the carpet installers can lay the carpet without worrying about damaging the baseboard. Trust me, I learned this lesson the hard way when a baseboard installer put them in place first, and it became a mess!

Totally agree! Plus, without the baseboard there, they can really get in there and lay the carpet properly without anything to get in the way.

Just let the carpet guys know you're going to be putting in baseboards later, and they’ll handle the tack strips accordingly. They’re usually pretty good at adjusting for that! They’ll probably ask if they need to know anything about the baseboard anyway.
