I'm looking to improve the ventilation in my 1956 split-level home. Right now, I have a gable intake along with a gable attic fan on the opposite end, and there are four box vents at the peak of the roof. However, the front soffit area is completely solid and not vented at all. Would adding vented soffits to the front of my house help reduce my cooling costs?

I think installing soffit vents is a solid idea! The airflow from soffits can help cool more than just the stagnant air at the top of the attic. However, I am a bit worried about adding too much intake and possibly upsetting the airflow balance. I know my place tends to heat up in the summer, so I'm hoping this adjustment, paired with the insulation upgrades I made, will help.
