Should I Keep My Batteries in the Garage During Winter?

I'm curious about battery care during the winter months. I have a lot of EGO equipment that suggests leaving batteries on the charger, and I usually store them in my garage where they seem to be fine. However, I also have a few Milwaukee batteries, and since I don't use them often, I'd like to know the best way to manage their charging and storage, especially when space is tight. Do you folks bring your batteries inside to charge them occasionally, or do you keep them in the garage?

Winter time is tricky! I try to bring my batteries inside when it gets really cold. The EGO ones seem to be okay, but my Ryobi batteries die fast if left out. As for charging, I don’t stress too much about the EGO batteries but keep my Milwaukee ones on a 6-port charger and plug it in as needed.

Yeah, I’ve found that the Milwaukee ones can hold up pretty well outside as long as they’re not consistently freezing. Just regular care goes a long way!

I always keep my batteries indoors, especially in extreme temperatures. I've heard that both hot and cold can damage them, and I’ve been fine doing it this way. Also, letting them go completely dead is definitely a bad idea!

From what I’ve read, keeping batteries at 2-3 bars is best for storage. I keep mine in a dehumidified basement with moisture-absorbing packets. I've been doing this for years without issues! Also, a fireproof box is a good precaution because lithium batteries can be dangerous if they catch fire. Better safe than sorry!

Definitely! It's one of those things that really makes you think about proper storage. Glad to hear your method has worked out for you!
