Should I Make a Mudroom or an Office in My New Space?

I'm adding a two-story addition to my home, which will include a bathroom on both floors. I have a choice between creating a mudroom on the first floor or an office since my current office is in the bedroom. We have a stackable washer and dryer in a kitchen closet now. What do you all think would be the better option?

If it were up to me, I’d also go for the mudroom, especially if working in the bedroom isn’t a big problem. It adds a lot of functionality to the first floor, and you can keep things organized with shoes, coats, and laundry all in one spot.

You actually have enough space to fit both a small office setup and a mudroom! With the dimensions you mentioned, you can allocate some space for a desk and still have room for laundry essentials. Just place shelves above the appliances, and you’re good to go!

For me, a mudroom would be way more useful than a separate office. If having your office in the bedroom isn't too much of an issue, I’d definitely lean towards the mudroom. Plus, since you're already installing plumbing for the bathroom, adding a laundry sink in the mudroom would be a breeze!
