Hey everyone! We're in the process of buying a house, and there's a wood-burning stove smack-dab in the middle of the living room. We're debating whether to relocate it to a wall about 8 feet away or just remove it completely. With a brand-new furnace and a wood-burning fireplace just around the corner, it feels like overkill to keep it. We know it can provide good heat, but we're looking for some insights. What do you think would be the cost to move it, and who should I contact for that? Or do you think it's better to get rid of it altogether? Here's a link to an image of the stove: [Pic here!](https://imgur.com/a/YGnY4s7)

I say keep it! You could get a heat-powered wood-burning stove fan and a cast iron kettle for some humidity. It’s perfect for warming up on chilly mornings without cranking up the furnace.
Honestly, I think you should live in the house for a couple of years before making any big changes. You might find the stove works better than you think, and that wall where it currently is probably won't be useful for anything else. Why not just leave it for now?
Yeah, I see your point, but our inspector mentioned the stove doesn’t meet code because of the heat shield, so we’d have to fix it if we wanted to use it. Plus, we’re planning to knock down that wall to expand the kitchen, which makes me think we should just tackle it now.
That sounds nice! But with a fireplace right next to it, I’m not sure it’s worth it. What do you think about having both?
