Should I Paint My Basement Ceiling Black or White?

I'm looking to spruce up my basement office on a budget and am considering painting the unfinished ceiling. I've narrowed it down to black or white, but I'm torn! I've seen the pros and cons of both options; black helps hide ductwork and wiring, while white can make the space feel taller and brighter. Since we might be in this house for only another 3 to 5 years, I'm curious about which color might be better for resale value. Any advice would be really helpful!

I went with white and it really opened up my basement! It feels a lot bigger and brighter down there, which is great since basements can be a bit dark. However, if I had a TV room there, I probably would've chosen black instead. It just depends on your vibe!

What's the height of your ceiling? If it's under 8 feet, white might be the better choice to create an illusion of height. Just something to think about!

It's 8'6" actually, so I guess either color could work. Leaning slightly more towards white now!
