I'm working on a toy barn and I'm debating whether to stain the wood a nice red while painting the trim and roof white with some leftover cabinet paint. Has anyone tried mixing stain and paint like this? I'm a bit worried it might not turn out well. Any tips or experiences would really help!

Have you thought about using whitewash for the trim? It could go well with the red stain, and if it doesn’t fit, you can always paint over it later!
Wouldn’t it look a bit odd having the stained wood showing grain while the trim's painted white?
