I recently had my bathroom remodeled by a general contractor, and unfortunately, their crew scratched the edge of my American Standard Americast bathtub. The tub is only a month old, installed by a different contractor, so I'm worried about its longevity. Do you think the scratches are bad enough to warrant a full replacement, or would a quick touch-up or glazing be a reasonable option? What are the risks involved in just patching it? Honestly, I’d recommend asking for some money back and just hiring a pro to fix it. Since it’s on the outside of the tub, a simple paint job should do the trick. Plus, I believe American Standard offers touch-up paint specifically for these situations.
If the scratches go all the way to the metal, I'd definitely push for a replacement. That could lead to rust down the line, which you don’t want. Better to be safe than sorry with a brand new tub!
