I recently received a few bare root plants as a gift: a Catawba grape, a Bluecrop blueberry, and two kinds of raspberries. Since I live in zone 6a and the last frost date is about 1.5 to 2 months away, I'm unsure about the best approach. Should I start them in 1/2 gallon pots indoors and then transplant them after the last frost, or is it better to keep them dormant a bit longer and plant them directly in the ground? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Keeping them dormant can be tricky! Are you thinking of just storing them in a bag? That could work if you keep it cool and mist them now and then. Just make sure they don’t dry out completely!
If your soil isn't frozen and it's workable, just go ahead and plant them in their permanent spots. It might be easier than trying to manage them indoors. Plus, getting them in the ground now can help them get established well before spring.
Yeah, I just checked. The soil is still frozen about an inch down, so planting now isn’t an option. I'm leaning toward keeping them for a bit longer.
Exactly! I thought about putting them in my mini fridge after soaking them and then just monitoring moisture levels.
