Should I Plant Perennials in the Ground or Keep Them in Pots?

I've got a mix of perennial seeds, like oregano, lemon balm, sage, mint, creeping thyme, chives, and lavender. I'm leaning towards growing them in separate pots for easier care, but I'd love to hear from anyone with experience on what's best! Should I plant them directly in the garden instead? Thanks for any advice!

Lavender can be tricky from seed, so a good tip is to just buy a small plant instead. But if you're up for a challenge, go for it! It sounds like you’ve got some serious gardening skills!

From my experience, perennials tend to thrive better when they're planted in the ground. The soil temperature is more stable, allowing the roots to grow freely, plus they can tap into those beneficial fungal networks for nutrients. Just don't group mint with them; it’s definitely a wild one!

It really depends on what you're looking for. Planting them in the ground often gives them a better chance to overwinter successfully because the soil stays warmer. However, mint definitely deserves its own pot since it spreads like crazy!
