Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to growing my own food and I've got some watermelon seeds from a delicious watermelon I enjoyed. I've heard the process can take about 3-4 months, but I'm hesitant to plant them now since it'll be late November by the time I could harvest, and I doubt they'd turn out great. Should I wait until spring to plant them instead? If I do wait, what's the best way to store these seeds? Alternatively, is there any way I could safely start planting now? I've got plenty of seeds, so I could try some now and save some for spring. I really don't want to miss out on that tasty watermelon!

I've heard that freezing seeds can work for some types, so maybe you could freeze your watermelon seeds too? It might help preserve them until you're ready to plant in the spring!
Watermelons really need a lot of sunlight, so it’s best to wait until the right season for planting. If you try planting now, the melons probably won’t ripen properly due to shorter daylight hours. They need the right conditions to develop the sweetness we love. If you wanted to grow something now, leafy greens might be a better bet since they grow quicker and can be harvested at any stage!
Got it! Looks like I’ll hold off for now.
I can relate! I've been told that growing watermelons is pretty tricky, especially for beginners. Also, what's your growing zone? I'm in zone 6a, and it can be tough to get watermelons to grow here!
Zone? I'm not too familiar with how that works in farming, so I need to do some research!

I can definitely look into that!
