Hey everyone! I'm a homeowner looking to add a new patio and I'm considering having it done in a single slab of concrete. My contractor suggested that they could use rebar and pour the new concrete over the current 12 square slabs I already have. I'm curious if this is a solid idea beyond just being cost-effective. Any thoughts? Thanks!

If the existing slabs are solid and sturdy, going for a 4-inch thick slab with rebar should hold up just fine. Just make sure the base is good and you shouldn’t run into issues!
Before you go ahead, check if the current slabs have any issues like cracks or sinking. If they’re in good shape, then it sounds like a decent plan! Just make sure to double-check everything with your contractor.

Thanks for the tip! I looked closely and there aren’t any visible problems with the slabs, so I'm feeling more confident about it.
