Should I Raise or Replace Baseboards Before Installing Carpet?

I'm getting carpet installed in a couple of weeks, but the baseboards in my bedrooms are sitting directly on the subfloor. Should I raise or replace these before the carpet is laid down?

It's generally recommended to remove the baseboards before the carpet installation. That way, the installers can do their job properly without any fraying at the edges. Plus, it just looks better when everything's done!

I totally agree! It just gives a cleaner finish afterwards.

You don't have to raise the baseboards, but it's a good idea if you want a neat look. If you leave them in place, it might be hard to paint them later on. You could just lift them slightly before the carpet goes in, and the installers can work with that.

I know someone who didn't remove their baseboards before carpet installation, and it looked pretty rough. If possible, take them off completely and replace them after the carpet goes in. It’ll make a big difference in the overall appearance!

Yeah, definitely do it right! It’s worth the extra effort.
