To avoid potential issues like infestations and root rot, I want to understand whether I should re-pot every new plant I bring home. Generally, you don’t have to re-pot your new plants immediately. Most nursery pots are designed for industrial watering, which means the soil isn’t always ideal for your home conditions. It’s wise to check the roots first, especially for pests. If you want, you can gently take the plant out of its pot after letting the soil dry a bit, give the roots a look, and then put it back without a re-pot if everything seems fine. It’s more crucial to avoid overwatering than to rush into re-potting.
