I'm in the middle of replacing the carpet in my older house and have just ripped up the old carpet. I'm wondering if I need to take off the quarter round on the baseboards before I install the new carpet, or can I just leave them and stretch the carpet to the edges? I'd prefer to get rid of the quarter round for a nicer finish, but I'm on a tight schedule and want to figure out the quickest solution that still looks good. Any advice? Thanks!

You can actually leave the baseboards on and just pull the quarter round if you're in a rush. Just make sure the carpet is properly stretched when you lay it down. A power stretcher is essential for this. Also, keep the room around 70 degrees for the best results!
Honestly, it's best to remove the baseboards and quarter round before installing the new carpet. Stretching the carpet all the way to the edge will give you a cleaner look. I didn't do this myself and ended up with a lot of wrinkles and lumps that made furniture placement a nightmare! Trust me, it’s worth the effort to get it done right.
