I recently picked up a M12 Fuel 8 in. Hedge Trimmer along with a M12 4.0 AH battery from Home Depot for store pickup. However, I noticed that the delivery tag on the hedge trimmer is from December 2023, which makes me wonder how long it has been sitting in the store. I'm considering whether I should reorder it for delivery from a local distribution center in hopes of getting a newer batch. Do newer production batches from Milwaukee usually include any kind of bug fixes or improvements?

If you're really worried, just order online. You can always return the one you don't want in-store! Better safe than sorry, right?
I'm curious about updates on this as well. If the model number and SKU haven’t changed, that usually means there haven’t been any improvements. Companies tend not to retool between generations since it costs too much, so any enhancements usually come with a marketing release. It's safe to say there won’t be any unnoticed upgrades.
Don't stress too much about it. The trimmer and battery are still brand new, and you'll have a 5-year warranty from the purchase date. That's a solid protection plan!
The M12 hedge trimmer was launched back in February 2022, so by December 2023, any potential issues should have been resolved. There's only one service parts list revision for this model, which means what you have now is likely the same as the current stock. I had a string trimmer kit from Home Depot last year with a 2021 manufacture date, and it worked just fine!

Absolutely! If they're playing around with stock, you have every right to play the game too.
