I recently accidentally cut through the power cord of my miter saw. I'm considering my options: should I try to repair it, or is it better to just buy a new saw? I think I could fix the cord, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle or the potential risks involved.

Definitely fix it! It's really not a big deal if you know what you're doing. Just make sure to get a suitable replacement cord. If you're not comfortable with it, maybe contact the manufacturer to buy a new one. Otherwise, a trip to the hardware store to find a similar gauge wire will do the trick! That's a pretty easy DIY task if you're careful with the connections!
If you're confident in your electrical skills, go ahead and replace the cord instead of patching it up. It usually involves getting inside the motor housing, but with a little patience, it's doable. Patching is never the best option, especially with tools that have moving parts.

I do think I can patch it without too much trouble, but I'm worried about the long-term effects. My workspace is small, and I only have a couple of outlets, so I often have to unplug to switch tools. If it comes to it, my wife said I could get a new saw, but honestly, I’m hoping to save that for a welder!
