I just bought an older home, and while I've got beautiful hardwood floors in my living room, there's definitely some worn-out carpet in the adjacent hallway and living area that really needs replacing. I'm hesitant to switch to hardwood just yet due to the possibility of future wall removals in the remodel. Plus, I'm not sure how they would blend the new wood with the existing floors—like would they sand and restain it? So, I'm wondering if it's a good idea to just go ahead and replace the carpet for now instead of waiting for a bigger renovation.

Absolutely, if the carpet is in bad shape and you don’t have plans to remodel any time soon, you should replace it. I recently did the same and paid around $3.50 per square foot for a decent option from a big box store. It really freshened up the space!

Did you install it yourself? I'm debating whether to hire someone or tackle it myself.
