Should I Replace My Office Subfloor After Finding Damage?

Asked By CraftyPineapple82 On

I've decided to upgrade my office by replacing the carpet with hardwood flooring, but after pulling up the old carpet and padding, I discovered what seems to be some damage underneath. I'm not sure what the issue is exactly, so I'm wondering if I need to replace the subfloor or if there are any alternatives I should consider. I've included pictures for better understanding. Let me know if you need any more details!

It looks like there could be some water damage to your subfloor. If it feels solid when you walk on it, you might not need to replace it right away. However, I recommend getting a remediation contractor involved to clean it up and handle any odors, just to be safe.

What kind of remediation would that involve?
