Hey everyone! I'm thinking about swapping out my over-the-range microwave for a range hood. But I noticed there's a square cut-out for ducting instead of the usual round one. Do you think this square hole will work with a range hood? What would be the installation process like? I'm planning to remove the cabinets and old microwave first. Also, could I use a specific adapter to connect the hood to this square hole? Thanks for your help!

The ducting looks like it’s round with a rectangular adapter. When you shop for a new hood, check what type of connection you need. If it's round on both ends, you might have to swap that rectangle for a round adapter. Just make sure your installation doesn’t restrict airflow too much or the hood won’t do its job right. Good luck with your remodel!
It really depends on how the new hood is designed. You’ll probably need to redo the ducting. Since you’re already taking down the cabinets, it might be easier to open up the wall and adjust that duct to fit properly. Usually, they come with a round connector that fits onto an adapter for rectangles. Just a heads-up, check the specs for airflow to ensure the new hood works efficiently!
Got it! So, if I need to change the adapter, would this piece work? https://www.lowes.com/pd/IMPERIAL-10-in-x-3-25-in-x-6-in-Galvanized-Steel-90-Degree-Stack-Duct-Boot/1000237097
Thanks for the tips! Would that adapter I mentioned earlier work in this scenario?
