I'm looking to replace both the roof and the metal siding on my 1950s house, but I'm a bit unsure about the order of work. Should I tackle the siding before the roof or do the roof first? I'll be using different contractors, and I'm concerned about how the drip edge will be managed. The gutters will also be replaced by the siding contractor, so I want to ensure everything goes smoothly. Thanks in advance for any advice!

It's generally recommended to do the roof first. This way, if anything goes wrong during the removal, it’s better if the old siding gets damaged than the new stuff. The roofers should handle the drip edge too, and since the gutters are getting replaced last by the siding crew, it makes sense to have them come in afterward.
Honestly, the order isn't a huge deal, but I would still lean towards doing the roof first. It's more critical for protecting your home, so it should be a priority. Plus, if you’re using different contractors, you want to make sure the roofing gets done without issues and then let the siding guy finish up.
