Should I Rotate My Monstera for Better Growth?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit confused about the best care for my monstera plant, especially when it comes to rotating it for even growth. I got my monstera about a year ago along with a friend, and I've done quite a bit of research on care tips. I always thought it was best not to rotate the plant since its leaves tend to grow toward the sunlight. Recently, however, my friend said she learned that you actually *can* and *should* rotate a monstera. I'm skeptical because I feel like if I rotate it, the leaves would end up growing in all directions—a bit like a pilea. My friend and her mom have been caring for plants longer than I have, but I'm meticulous about researching plant care. I'm worried that their approach is less about understanding and more about vibes. I just want to know what's right here. Should I be rotating my monstera?

I feel you! It’s wild how many people don’t actually look up plant care. As for the rotation thing, I’d say keep doing what you’re doing! Every plant is different, and if your monstera is thriving without being rotated, then it’s probably best to stick with that. Eventually, I think your friend might realize that her approach isn't as effective as she thinks. For now, just focus on nurturing your plants how you know is best. They’re your hyperfixation for a reason!

Exactly! Keep that energy for your monstera! And honestly, it’s probably good for your friendship too—focusing on your plants and not getting too caught up in her vibe. You could share tips when she asks, but let her learn the hard way if she's not interested.

Honestly, I think it’s a bit of a myth that you should *have* to rotate your monstera. You're spot-on with the idea that their leaves naturally reach for the sun, and rotating could disrupt that. I've seen lots of people just let their monsteras grow the way they want without turning them, and they look great. Sometimes, it's just about letting them do their thing! Plus, I can totally relate to your frustration—people often don't consider the nuances of plant care either, it seems.
