Should I Stick with Peat Pots or Switch to Plastic for My Seedlings?

Hey everyone, I'm a first-time gardener and could really use your help. I started growing some seeds like tomatoes, peppers, and lavender a few weeks ago, and overall they seem to be doing well. However, I've noticed some mold forming on the sides of the peat pots I bought. I've read that overwatering might be the cause, so I've adjusted my routine and have a fan blowing on them continuously. Some people mention that peat pots are not great and suggest I should switch to plastic pots, even calling them a scam! I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the different opinions. Should I continue using the peat pots since my seedlings are thriving, or is it best to repot them? Thanks for your advice!

If your seedlings are growing strong and healthy, you’re probably fine sticking with the peat pots for now. I've found them a bit tricky because watering can be a hassle; they require a lot to stay moist, which can lead to mold. But using a fan is definitely a good move! If you're looking to minimize waste, try mixing the soil with some vermiculite and perlite to improve drainage. That combo can really help keep the mold at bay while supporting healthy roots.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll try that soil amendment since I'm quite attached to my seedlings and don't want to disturb them unnecessarily. I appreciate your help!
