I just grabbed a great deal on a combo impact and combi drill, and I've heard they might be getting phased out soon. They have a 2024 date code, so I'm curious about the best practices for storing the 18V XR batteries when they're not in use. Is it better to leave them in the tools or to disconnect them?

I’ve kept my batteries in the tools and on the charger for over twenty years now! The drain from leaving them on the tool is almost negligible, and the charger knows when to stop charging. Plus, the tool actually has low voltage protection, not the battery itself, so I think it's safer to keep them in there.
