Hey everyone, I've come across a set of used solar panels that were previously installed in a commercial space back in 2011. The business is upgrading their system to expand capacity, which means the old panels, specifically the Siliken (SLK60P6L), are up for grabs, and they're free! I'm considering using them for my home, but I'm wondering about their condition and any potential issues I should think about. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

If you have enough space, definitely grab them! Just keep an eye out for any damage from previous installations. I'd also recommend getting a PV tester from Amazon to ensure they're still producing power effectively. Trust me, it’s worth knowing what you're dealing with!
Honestly, why wouldn’t you take them? If you're not interested, I bet a ton of people here would scoop them up right away since they're free!
I say go for it! Just give them a good visual check and run a multimeter test. Worst case, you can use them for something like a carport if they don’t work out as solar panels.

True, but remember that free stuff isn't always priceless. Sometimes it can end up costing you, especially if you eventually need to dispose of it. Just make sure to check them out first before jumping in.
