Should I Trust a $6100 Quote for My Shower Remodel or Just Make Repairs?

I just bought a house, and there's a major issue with the bathroom: when I shower, water seeps through the tiles into the drywall, and it ends up in the garage! We haven't used the shower yet, but I'm worried about mold and structural damage since I don't know how long this problem has been going on. I got a quote for $6100 to redo everything, but the contractor wouldn't break down the costs for me. I'm not sure if I should go for a complete remodel or if there might be a way to just do repairs. How do you think I should approach this? By the way, I tried to share pictures of the damage, but it seems I can't attach images here. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, if the contractor isn't willing to itemize the quote, that's a red flag. My first suggestion would be to check the ceiling in the garage – you need to locate the source of the leak. If the water's coming from plumbing issues, fixing it might be straightforward. However, if the waterproofing is the issue, you're likely looking at a full redo of the shower.

So, just filling the cracks wouldn't work, right? Is there a guarantee with that type of work?
