I'm considering whether to get the DCF870 impact driver. I currently own the DCF850 for high-power tasks and tight spaces, plus an M12 Surge for quieter work. The DCF870 seems like a great combo with its small size, power, speed, and quiet operation. However, it doesn't outshine my DCF850 in size or speed, and it's much louder than the M12. I'm trying to decide if selling both my 850 and M12 to get the 870 is a good idea, even at a price of $120, or if that would be a downgrade instead.

Honestly, I wouldn't go for the DCF870 if you already have the 850 and the M12. The DCF860 might be a better fit for you if you're looking for something new. I've found the 850 to be super versatile for tight spaces, and if I really need more power, I'll pull out my DCF922. But for general use, the 850 is hard to beat!
You might not need it, to be honest. The DCF860 is currently one of the most powerful and fastest drivers on the market. I have both the 850 and 860, and honestly, unless I'm doing heavy-duty jobs, the 850 does the trick just fine. The 860 really shines with high-torque tasks.
I absolutely love my DCF870! It has become my go-to impact driver. It's compact, powerful, and I appreciate how quiet it is compared to others. If you don’t mind a bit of noise, I'd say go for it!
