I'm trying to figure out the best battery setup for my 48V off-grid solar system. What are the key differences between using four 50Ah 48V batteries in parallel versus four 200Ah 12V batteries in series? Is one configuration safer or more efficient than the other, or should I just focus on which option is more cost-effective?

Honestly, 48V is usually the smarter choice. It's not only more efficient, but if you're using solar chargers that work across different voltages, they perform better with 48V. With 12V, you'd have to deal with balancing the batteries when they're in series, but if they're in parallel, that's no longer a concern. Just stick to fewer batteries for simplicity!
